An Spailpín Fanach (the Migrant Worker) was founded in 1779 across the street from the Beamish & Crawford Brewery (which ceased production in March 2009). It is a traditional Irish bar offering live music Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. “a lovely soothing place with low ceilings, exposed brick walls, flagstone floors, fireplaces, a simple wooden bar and woven rush seats”. (Quote from Frommers Ireland 2009). Its cosy, lively atmosphere makes it popular with tourists and locals alike.

Home to “The Cork Singers Club” on Sunday nights September to June, except Bank holiday weekends; a night of unaccompanied Traditional Singing. Also “The Cork Yarnspinners” a night of storytelling and song on the last Tuesday of each month September to June.

Our function room caters for 180 people. Traditional Foods such as Irish stew, bacon and cabbage, among lots of other dishes served 12.00pm – 3.00pm.

Cork is built on a series of islands in the River Lee. One of the first islands to be populated is South Island, hence the name South Main Street. An excellent location to being a walking tour of the City, or to end one with a night of Traditioal Irish Music and Song
